HC Marunda was a dedicated and reliable advocate. She was available to answer all my questions and gave me sound guidance that I needed in a domestic violence situation. She gave advise that was timely and relevant to my situation and empowered me to fight for my child and for my own rights.
The death of a loved one is a stressful and emotionally challenging time, and can often be made worse where a valid will is not in place. Wills are legal documents that show how your assets will be shared in the unfortunate event of death. At HCM Legal, our Brisbane Wills and Powers of Attorney lawyers can help you draft a valid Will, and Power of Attorney, ensuring that your family will be looked after when you are no longer capable of doing so.
In drafting a Will, generally three things are required in order to be valid:
- The Will must be in writing,
- It must be signed, and
- Your signature must be witnessed by two other people.
In circumstances where death occurs without a valid Will (known as ‘dying intestate’), the court employs the use of a standard formula to distribute your property and possessions. Usually, this means your assets will pass to your spouse or children, however, this can be more complicated.
In addition to assisting you in drafting a will, at HCM Legal we are also experienced in appointing Power of Attorney’s. Generally, a power of attorney is appointed to manage your assets, financial affairs and any other important decisions in circumstances where you are unable to do so due to illness, an accident or your absence.
